Hello Amigos!
I am Jessy Rose🌹
So today we are gonna learn about how much God loves the sinner too.
Let's check the Book of Philemon.
The meaning of Philemon is 'Loving'.
He turned into a Christian by listening to Paul's teachings. He is a very rich man. He had many servants. He belongs to the Colossian's city. People in Colossians who believed in Christ used to gather in Philemon's house to worship together. Philemon used to help and serve God's servants. He used to arrange a place for them to stay and provide food for them. He is a God-fearing man.
His wife's name is Apphia and his son's name is Arcchipus.
The Book of Philemon was written by Paul. This might have been written around AD 62-63
Paul wrote this letter to Philemon as a recommendation letter.
About whom was this recommendation letter was?
It was about Onesimus - meaning 'Useful', 'Beneficial'.
From where did they write this letter?
When Paul was prisoned in Rome.
Why did they write?
Who is the Onesimus?
Onesimus is one of the servants of Philemon.
He might have robbed something from Philemon's house and ran away to Rome.
There he met Paul who is the prisoner of Christ.
He changed with Paul's teachings.
He served Paul.
Onesimus:-
1. Slave
2. Theif
3. Person who ran away
4. With God's grace he changed
5. He became a servant to God's servant
6. He became a son to Paul
7. Person who was useless turned into a useful man.
8. Person who was separated and became dearer
9. Person who was a slave but turned as a brother
10. He was freed from the owes
11. For his sins he must receive punishment but with God's grace he was free from slavery, owes
12. He got a great testimony from Paul
So dear Amigos! though we are like Onesimus who is stuck up with the sin of slavery we can get freed with Christ Jesus.
1 JOHN 1:7
THE BLOOD OF JESUS, HIS SON, PURIFIES US FROM ALL SIN.
Onesimus resembles the sinner who has changed,
Paul resembles Jesus who changed the sinner, who sacrificed his life for the sinner, with his blood he washed away the sins of the sinner
Philemon resembles Father God.
The Book of Philemon has 25 verses in it which we can divide into 4 parts:
1. 1-3 verses - Paul has greeted and blessed Philemon and people over there.
2. 4-7 verses - Paul is thanksgiving and praising God for Philemon's faith in Jesus Christ.
3. 8-21 verses - Recommendation regarding Onesimus
4. 22-25 verses - Paul is giving assurance that he will be freed from prison and meet and spend with them very soon and blessing them
From this Book, we can learn because of sins we are slaves but because of Jesus Christ our sins are washed away and we are brothers and sisters.
May we all unite as one family through the blood of Jesus Christ.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
